Post Renovation Inspection

You may wish to do a post-renovation inspection to ensure work has been completed properly or to clear the project before releasing the final holdback payment. This inspection could apply just to the renovated area or to the entire house, depending on the size and complexity of the renovation.

One of the first questions the inspector will ask is, “Did you get a building permit for this renovation?” If the answer is yes, then the inspection process should be straightforward. If no permit was obtained for the renovation then a more exhaustive review will be required. This review may require consulting other licensed professionals such as a licensed electrical contractor, structural engineer etc.

The inspector will provide you with a complete report highlighting deficiencies found in the renovation at the completion of the inspection.
