Before selling your home

After living in a house for years, homeowners tend to forgive the odd problem. A prospective purchaser may not feel as generous about your home’s shortcomings. Some systems that were adequate when you bought the home may, for example, no longer meet current standards. Your DoubleCheck home inspector will point these out as part of your home inspection. You may decide to change any or all of these items depending upon cost and how you feel about the changes.
Having your property inspected before you list it for sale is a good strategy. Attending the inspection will give you an objective view of the general condition of your home. The inspection report will also alert you problems that would surface during a prospective buyer’s pre-purchase inspection – and allow you to repair or resolve them before listing.

This may improve your chances of an early sale, and make the whole process proceed smoother since most visual deficiencies of the home have been identified. You may choose to show the purchaser what you have done to improve your home, not that your trying to cover-up deficiencies but rather provide a better, more attractive home for the purchaser.
